Orange Chicken
More sweet than sour this is a real feel-good recipe inspired by mall food in the US but with simple ingredients. Warning, once you start it’s hard to stop #orange #chicken
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Roughly dice up the chicken thigh meat and put into a large bowl
* Step 2
Combine the olive oil, egg, salt and pepper in a bowl and whisk to form a smooth wash
* Step 3
Add the vegetable oil into a big pot on a high heat, and while that’s coming to a boil, prepare the chicken by dipping in the egg wash, then rolling in a bowl of cornflour before CAREFULLY placing the chicken in the hot oil. Should be able to do 5 or 6 at a time.
* Step 4
For the orange sauce, grate the oranges then juice them. Get your marmalade dishes out ready
* Step 5
Add the juice, rind and marmalade to a pan, and bring to a low boil on a medium high heat. Add the cornflour and vinegar. It should reduce down to thick orangey goo. Marvellous!
* Step 6
Now, throw your deep fried chicken pieces into the orange sauce and gently mix until each piece is well covered. Serve with rice and enjoy!
