Milk tart

This is one of my favourite recipes my grandmother taught me. #mamataughtmewell

Ingredient

Food ration :

1 tart
1

egg

15 ml

water

45 g

flour

Pinch

salt

250 ml

milk

125 ml

sugar

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

For crust: In a bowl mix together melted butter, egg and water. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix together to make soft dough.

* Step 2

Press in tart tin about 0.5cm thick. Bake in 180°C preheated oven for 10 minutes.

* Step 3

For filling: Bring milk and sugar to a boil in a pot.

* Step 4

Whisk melted butter, flour, egg yolk, salt and custard powder to make flour paste

* Step 5

Add 1/3 of hot milk to flour paste and whisk to avoid lumps.

* Step 6

Return to heat and whisk continuously till it thickens. Remove from heat when it is thick.

* Step 7

In a separate bowl whisk egg whites to soft peak. Fold egg whites into custard.

* Step 8

Pour custard into tart shell and bake for 20-30 minutes until set in preheated 180°C oven

* Step 9

Let cool completely and dust with ground cinnamon. Enjoy with tea
