Vanilla Extract

I use vanilla for baking and cooking and unless it’s imitation, it’s really expensive. And it’s so simple to make.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

I purchased the vanilla beans on eBay. They have really good deals. I made 5 bottles but in reality it’s only 5 vanilla beans. You may add more if you’d like. Make sure you slice the bean so the vanilla is exposed. Cut it longways. I missed to take a picture.

* Step 2

Once they are sliced put them in a bottle and add vodka. Make sure the vodka covers the beans completely. Otherwise the vanilla can go bad where it’s exposed.

Store some where dark and fresh for two months and if possibly longer for stronger flavor. Mines are not yet done but the vanilla is already overpowering the vodka smell and it has not even been two months.
