BBQ Bacon Smash Burger

BBQ Bacon Smash Burger

Comfort food at its finest. Every couple of weeks we just crave big burgers and this is one of our favorites. So much flavor and very easy to make.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Start cooking your bacon. I prefer cooking in the oven on a rack or in the air fryer to reduce the amount of grease. Oven- about 15 minutes at 400F flipping halfway. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn, you should be able to tell when its fully cooked and crispy. Air Fryer-

* Step 2

Divide the beef into 4 separate rolled up balls. Kind of like a meatball.

* Step 3

Heat a pan up to high heat and add 2 burgers to it. Allow the meat to cook for about thirty seconds and then roll the ball over and using a flat metal spatula or burger press, press the ball flat into a burger shape. Try to make the burger thin to get a nice crust on the meat. By pressing on the part of the ball that is already cooked it ensures that the meat doesn't stick to the spatula. Once the meat is flattened, season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes and flip.

* Step 4

After you flip the burger, give it one good press with the spatula to make sure it keeps its shape and stays flat. Season with salt and pepper and add a slice of cheese. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted.

* Step 5

Get your buns ready. (I prefer to toast them in the oven for some added texture) Add mayo to the bottom bun and then place your burger on it. Top burger with lettuce, fried onions and bacon. Cover in BBQ sauce and add the top bun. More veggies and condiments may be added. This is really good with some added avocado!
