Sabut Masoor ki Khadi Daal

#cc2022 #week1 #cookpadindia An innovative twist to the simple Breakfast dish that is enjoyed in Hyderabad. In this particular version, I have used Sabut Masoor Daal or Whole Red Lentils in place of the regular Red Lentils or Masoor Daal. Very easy to make and made with simple ingredients as well. Whole Red lentils helps to reduce cholesterol levels since they are rich in soluble fibers. These stabilizes blood pressure levels and promotes healthy weight loss too. Essential for maintaining good heart health. And contains good protiens plus enhances energy levels in the body. This is a yummy variation to the regular Daal that is as good and satiating too. Enjoy Cooking with Zeen!

Cooking time :

1 tsp

Salt

2 tbsp

Oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Soak the red lentils in about 1 1/2 cups of clean drinking water for 5 minutes. In a cooking pot, heat oil and add the chopped onions.

* Step 2

Add the ginger garlic paste next. Saute them for a minute or two until light brown. Now add the green chillies, chopped tomatoes and the rest of the spices. Cover and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.

* Step 3

Cover and cook on a low heat until done with the Tomatoes being soft and mushy. And now finally add the Lentils along with the water in which they have been soaked. Keep the heat on a medium high to high heat and adjust Salt at this stage. Also add in chopped Coriander Leaves. Cover and cook until it is done. The water is enough for it's cooking as these Lentils get cooked pretty much easily.

* Step 4

Switch off the flame and garnish with Coriander. Serve hot with Phulkas and Chapatis. It tastes yum with any of the Indian Breads. However if desired, it can be enjoyed with simple boiled Rice and Pickle. Enjoy!
