Ingredient

1 1/2 tsp

baking powder

1/4 tsp

salt

1/2 tsp

baking soda

1 1/3 cup

sugar

1/3 cup

bakers cocoa

1 cup

milk

1/3 cup

warm milk

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

for the cake, preheat oven at 350 and bake on 350

* Step 2

meaure into shifter, sifted flour, baking powder, soda, salt, sugar, and cocoa. stir shortening (room temperature) just to soften.

* Step 3

sift dry ingredients into bowl with shortening.add 3/4 cup milk and vanilla.

* Step 4

mix until of flour is dampened.

* Step 5

then beat 2 minutes with mixer on low speed or 300 steokes by hand.

* Step 6

add 3 eggs (unbeaten) and 1/4 cup milk. beat one munite longer r 150 steokes.

* Step 7

bake in 2 8" layer pans, lined on bottom with wax paper, about 35 minutes.

* Step 8

For frosting, frost sides frist then top.

* Step 9

sift sugar, salt and Cocoa together.

* Step 10

cream butter or margarine,add part of sugar mixture gradually, mixing well.add remaining sugar, alternating with the warm milk, beat untill smooth.

* Step 11

add vanilla, blend. makes about 2cups of frosting. sufficient to frost layers, top and side of cake.
