Crispy and flavourful lentil fritters or pakoras taste delicious and are quick to make.They can be served as a snack or appetiser at pinics or parties with a cup of tea or coffee.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Soak both lentils separately in warm water for 4-5 hours. Strain the water completely in a strainer and discard it. Grind to a coarse paste both lentils separately without water. If needed just add 1 tsp water while grinding it. Mix both dals and add baking powder and salt to taste. Beat the batter well. The batter should be like idli batter. If it is runny add 1 tbsp gram flour. But care should be taken not to make a thin batter.
* Step 2
This lentil fritters can be cooked both ways with or without onion.If making without onion sprinkle black seeds(kalonji), coriander leaves, chopped green chillies salt to taste.It can be made with chopped onion, fried mustard seeds, chopped coriander, few fried curry leaves, turmeric and chopped green chillies. Both ways they are delicious.
* Step 3
Heat oil in a wok and take spoonful of batter and pour it in oil. Fry in medium heat, crispy golden fried fritters or pakoras and serve hot with coriander mint and yogurt dip. These fritters are crispy outside and soft inside. These are perfect snacks or appetizers at parties and picnics with a cup of tea or coffee.
