Sweet and spiced stewed plums
Stewing fruit that has got a bit too tired or limp to be eaten fresh is a great way to use it up, especially if you don't have enough time or sugar to make jam. I made these last weekend and have been eating them at breakfast with granola and yoghurt (main photo), porridge (last photo). Would also work as a desert with cream, ice cream or custard.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Wash the plums, cut in half and remove the stones. Put them in a pam and add all the other ingredients. Only add a very small amount of water - basically just enough to prevent plums.from sticking to the base of the pan.
* Step 2
Cover the pan and cook over a very low heat for about half an hour. Leave to cool.
* Step 3
Put the plums and spices in an airtight container. They will keep for a week in the fridge.
* Step 4
Great with porridge, a dash of milk or cream and a sprinkle of seeds
