French Breakfast Muffins

French Breakfast Muffins is a delicious recipe that can be used for breakfast, brunch, a snack or even dessert. This was a very popular recipe from the 1970's. Great for Thanksgiving and Christmas also. Cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg and butter combine together to bring out the flavor of doughnuts. A quick(15) minutes of prep time and 35 minutes total from start to finish.  Makes 12 servings. 

Ingredient

1/2 cup

milk

1 - 2/3 cups

all-purpose flour

1/2 cup

sugar

1 - 1/2 tsps

baking powder

1/2 tsp

nutmeg

1/2 tsp

salt

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Preheat oven to 375° F.

* Step 2

Grease a 12 cup muffin pan; set aside.

* Step 3

Combine milk, 1/3 cup melted butter and egg in a bowl. Set aside.

* Step 4

In another bowl, combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add in the egg mixture; stir just until combined.

* Step 5

Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake 15-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

* Step 6

Place the 1/3 cup melted butter in a bowl. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in another bowl. Remove muffins from pan; let stand 2 minutes to 5 minutes on cooling rack.

* Step 7

Serve warm with butter.
