#indiankitchen An excellent and tasty Malabar snack. These easy to make sweet deep fried dumplings are made in the shape of tamarinds, hence the name!

Ingredient

4 tbsp

Rice flour

5 tbsp

Jaggery

1 pinch

Baking soda

1 cup

Water

As needed

Oil

To taste

Salt

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Boil water & jaggery in a pan and stir well until the jaggery melts. Strain the jaggery to remove the impurities. In a bowl, mix together the all purpose flour, rice flour, mashed bananas, melted jaggery, cardamom powder, baking soda, & salt and make a thick batter of dropping consistency.

* Step 2

Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan at medium-high flame. Using your hand, take a handful of the batter and carefully pour/squeeze it into the oil in the shape of a tamarind. Deep fry until it turns brown in colour. Drain onto a paper towel and serve hot with tea or coffee!
