Dahi machha is a traditional Oria delicacy made of fish in a spicy yogurt based sauce. It is eaten usually served with rice as an accompaniment. Dahi Machha Jhola is liberally seasoned with turmeric, onions, garlic, mustard and garam masala. The use of turmeric imparts a yellow colour to the sauce base. Before being served, chopped fresh cilantro may be sprinkled on top for added flavour as well as enhanced appearance.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Wash the fish pieces and keep them in a large glass bowl.
* Step 2
Add salt, turmeric, ginger paste, sugar, garlic paste, garam masala powder, kashmiri chilli powder, onion paste and curd in it.
* Step 3
Mix well and cover with a lid or plate. Then, let the fish marinate in the mixture for 20 minutes.
* Step 4
Heat mustard oil in a kadhai over medium flame and add chopped green chillies in it.
* Step 5
Once the chillies turn brownish in colour, add the prepared marinade and fish pieces slowly in the kadhai.
* Step 6
Put the flame to low setting and let it cook for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
* Step 7
Then, turn off the flame and cover with a lid and let the flavours soak in the dish for 10 minutes. Serve hot with steamed rice 🍚
