#Ambassador This Hyderabadi khatti dal is a popular lentil recipe made from split yellow lentils and orange lentils or arhar dal.The word โ€˜khattiโ€˜ translates to โ€˜sourโ€™ in English. So the Exact translation of โ€˜Khatti dalโ€˜ will be โ€˜sour lentilsโ€™. although the dal has sour taste but it is delicious.The sourness comes from the tamarind. So you have a creamy, smooth, flavorful and sour daal.

Ingredient

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash and soak both lentils for 30 minutes then drain out water.

In a clay pot add daal and water add ginger garlic paste tomatoes and spices

Boil it and cover partially.Cook on low flame for 20 minutes.Then blend it with hand blender or ghis "ghota"๐Ÿ˜ Add tamarind pulp and cook for 3 minutes. Dish is out.

Heat desi ghee in a pan add bay leaves and chillies.Fry for 1 minute then add cumin seeds fry for 30 seconds.

Pour this tarka on cooked daal.
