chanadal

1/2 tsp

turmeric

to taste

Salt

1 tsp

zeera

2 tsp

oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Soak chanadal in enough of water for 2 hrs, drain and set aside

* Step 2

In a cooker add dal, salt, turmeric and 2 1/2 cups of water and give 2- 3 whistles (dal should not be mushy)

* Step 3

Once done switch off the flame

* Step 4

For tempering :in a pan add 2 tsp oil or ghee add zeera when it crackles add red chilli powder, switch off the flame

* Step 5

Now pour this tempering on dal

* Step 6

Top this dal with some onions, coriander leaves and tamarind chutney
