Pan-fried Mini Dim Sims (Shumai) with Teriyaki Sauce
In Australia, there is a Chinese-inspired dumpling-style food called ‘Dim Sim’. Mini Dim Sims, the small version of it, are the same food as ‘Shumai’. There are many different ones these day, such as Beef, Pork, Prawn, Vegetarian, and etc. Frozen Mini Dim Sims are available from many supermarket stores. They must be popular. I don’t know how Australian people normally cook them, but I know most of them just eat them with Soy Sauce. I want to show you one easy way to cook them, and this simple Teriyaki Sauce with Vinegar takes the Frozen Mini Dim Sims to next level.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Heat Oil in a small frying pan over medium heat, place Frozen Mini Dim Sims (Shumai), add Water, cover with a lid, and cook until the water in the pan is evaporated.
* Step 2
Remove the lid, and keep cooking, tossing and stirring, until nicely browned.
* Step 3
To make the Sauce, combine the sauce ingredients in a small heat-proof bowl, and bring to the boil in the microwave, then mix well. *Note: It takes 40 to 45 seconds using my 1100W microwave.
* Step 4
Arrange cooked Mini Dim Sims on a plate, drizzle the sauce over, sprinkle with Toasted Sesame Seeds and Spring Onion, and enjoy.
