Easter Koulourakia from Smyrna

These koulourakia (cookies) were prepared by my grandmother every Easter. They are easy and very aromatic!

Ingredient

Food ration :

about 80-100 servings
250 g

margarine

250 g

butter

1

egg

350 g

sugar

30 ml

brandy

1/2 cup

olive oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Beat the butter and margarine with the sugar using a mixer. These should be at room temperature. If you wish you may melt the butter/margarine and beat the mixture with a whisk.

* Step 2

Add the egg and then all the liquids (orange juice, brandy, olive oil).

* Step 3

Add the vanilla and flour with the baking powder bit by bit.

* Step 4

Knead until you get a soft and pliable dough and form into cookies.

* Step 5

Brush the cookies with egg and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 minutes depending on your oven. Good luck!
