This is a recipe from my grandmother from Edessa. It's a jam but you can also have it as a spoon sweet. Unbeatable!!!

Ingredient

Food ration :

2-3 medium sized jars
2 kg

sugar

1 sprig

basil

1/2 cup

water

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Slice off both ends of the fig.

* Step 2

Put the figs in a pot with the sugar, water and the basil which you add 15 minutes later.

* Step 3

Leave them to boil for quite some time until the syrup thickens (like in spoon sweets) and they get a nice caramel colour.

* Step 4

Store them in sterilized jars (with the basil) and turn them upside down to seal.
