Classic Ginger Pot Pudding
A classic South African recipe, extremely easy to make.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
In a large pot mix together all the ingredients of the syrup. Bring to the boil on a medium heat, stirring occasionally.
* Step 2
In the meantime mix together the jam and the butter. Now add the flour and salt, mix. Then add the milk and bicarbonate and mix well.
* Step 3
Add spoon fuls of the dough into the boiling syrup. Cover and let it cook slowly on a low heat for 15 minutes. Don't remove the lid. By now the dough should be cooked and syrup is thick and tasty.
* Step 4
Remove from plate and rest for 5 minutes. Serve with ice cream or custard.
