Quickled Redhots and Hotdogs
Quick pickled sausage and Hotdogs. Pickled sausage is a Southern favorite. This is the quickest I know of doing them. They are not cheap, $9 for a quart jar or $15 for a gallon jar. The Redhots were $5 for 2 pounds. The vinegar $2.5 a gallon, you won't get but 2 pounds of Redhots out of the gallon jar. Either way isn't cheap, but homemade is the best buy.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Get your Redhots ok I couldn't resist. Take the Redhots out of the package and store the rest.
* Step 2
Add the vinegar and Redhots to the pot you are going to use and turn on the heat.
* Step 3
They will swell just a bit.
* Step 5
Add the Redhots to a clean sterilized jar. I used a 46 ounce pickle jar.
* Step 6
Add the hotdogs to the same vinegar. Boil for 7 minutes.
* Step 7
Add the hotdogs to the jar.
* Step 8
Fill with the boiling vinegar. Note have the jar at room temperature or warmer. Also DO NOT have it on a stone or cold surface. Paper towel or pot holders work well. When hot liquids meet cold glass an explosion of boiling hot liquids and shattered glass, which is not good and life threatening.
* Step 9
Put the lid on and let cool to the touch.
* Step 10
Refrigerate overnight and waaah la you will have quickled the hotdogs and the redhot sausages. I hope you enjoy!!!
