Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

I love ice cream, it’s my “go-to” favorite summertime, wintertime, falltime, anytime treat. Homemade is an even better special treat. I’m down for trying different recipes for homemade ice cream, but m hubs, not so much. After finishing up the pineapple crush ice cream last week, he said, “do you know what would be really good?” Here, I was thinking he’d come up with a different “flavor”….”Chocolate, just plain chocolate would be really good!” Hmm… Lol Sorry there’s no picture, it goes fast around here before I think of getting a pic

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Whisk together junket mix a half of chocolate milk, until mix melts and there’s nothing “grainy” left.

* Step 2

Slowly stir in dulce de leche until smooth. (I used a hand mixer, arthritis strikes again) continue mixing while adding remaining chocolate milk, whipping cream and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

* Step 3

Pour into ice cream freezer canister. Do a layer of ice/salt, end with ice to top of canister. Attach motor and plug it up or use hand crank, if you prefer.

* Step 4

My Dad always that it needs to “rest” before serving. I think he was the one that needed the rest or maybe just to make me wait. Lol. I usually dig right in.

* Step 5

Serve right out of the canister or transfer to a freezer safe bowl and place in freezer until ready to serve. I divide it into half quart freezer containers for my..oops, OUR eating pleasure
