Malasadas (Portuguese Donuts)

Straight from the Azores Islands♡♡♡♡ Sharing my mom's perfect recipe!

Ingredient

3 cups

flour

1.5 tbs

crisco

1/2 cup

milk

1/2 cup

water

1/2 tsp

salt

1 tsp

sugar

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Beat your eggs and sugar together.

* Step 2

In a separate bowl, mix your yeast with 1tbs water until dissolved.

* Step 3

Pour ALL ingredients into a large bowl and knead with your hands for about 5 min until everything is well combined.

* Step 4

Cover your large bowl with a cloth and set aside in a warm area of the house for about 2 hours or until the dough has double or tripled in size.

* Step 5

Pour vegetable oil in a large pot and bring to medium-high heat. (Take a small piece of dough to test the temp)

* Step 6

Takes pieces of your dough, and form into little balls and set on a parchment paper. Let them rise again while your oil is coming to temp.

* Step 7

Stretch your dough into the shapes shown in my photo by stretching. Deep fry in the oil until golden brown and cooked through.

* Step 8

Remove from oil and dust with cinnamon sugar. Enjoy these light, crispy, delicious dessert!
