Crisco Sugar Cookies

This is the only sugar cookie recipe that turns out right for me every time. My dad made sure I had a copy of the recipe when I went out on my own. It's a good thing too! Because Santa needs his Christmas Eve tribute.

Ingredient

Cooking time :

overnight
1 1/2 cups

granulated sugar

1/2 cup

brown sugar

2 tablespoons

milk

1 teaspoon

vanilla

1 1/2 teaspoons

baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoons

cream of tarter

1 teaspoon

salt

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Cream the shortening and sugars together.

* Step 2

Beat eggs in one at a time.

* Step 3

Add milk and vanilla.

* Step 4

Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tarter, and salt in a separate bowl.

* Step 5

Mix with creamed mixture into one until well blended. A dough should form.

* Step 6

Cover and chill for at least an hour (preferably overnight.) If you want a drop cookie, just skip this step.

* Step 7

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

* Step 8

Separate dough into two balls.

* Step 9

Roll one ball out to about 1/4 inch thickness on parchment paper or a lightly floured surface.

* Step 10

Cut the cookies to desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet.

* Step 11

Decorate cookies with colored sugar, candy, or a simple cinnamon/sugar mix.

* Step 12

Bake for 5-6 minutes or until edges of cookies are golden.

* Step 13

Set out to cool. Once cool you can ice non-decorated cookies.
