Italian-Style Oven-Baked Sardines

Italian-Style Oven-Baked Sardines

I adjusted this Italian dish by Chef Tsutomu Ochiai so that I could easily make it at home.

Ingredient

Food ration :

1/2

Tomato

1/4

Onion

2 tbsp

Olive oil

1 clove

Garlic

1/2 tsp

Salt

1 dash

Pepper

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Remove the heads and guts from the sardines, (alternatively, ask the fish dealer to do this or buy them already prepped to save time).

* Step 2

Put the sardines on a plate and lightly season with salt and pepper. (Season evenly inside the sardines as well.)

* Step 3

Combine the minced tomato, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper in a baking dish and mix.

* Step 4

Stuff the sardines with the vegetables. Line the bottom of the dish with a layer of vegetables, then place the sardines on top (as shown in the photo).

* Step 5

Top with cheese, then panko, then evenly drizzle the olive oil over the panko.

* Step 6

Bake in an oven (no need to preheat) set to 250℃ for 20 minutes and it's done!
