Vickys Cheese & Onion Scones, GF DF EF SF NF
We mostly make sweet scones for spreading with jam but savoury ones are delicious too!
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Preheat the oven to gas 6 / 200C / 400F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
* Step 2
Mix the flour, xanthan gum, cayenne / mustard powder and salt in a bowl
* Step 3
Rub in the margarine until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs
* Step 4
Add the cheese, spring onion and milk and form a soft dough
* Step 5
Pat the dough out on a floured surface to 1 inch thick
* Step 6
Use a 5cm cookie cutter to cut rounds. Reshape the dough as required and cut as many rounds as you can. I get 8, forming the last by hand
* Step 7
Place on the baking tray an inch apart, brush with some extra milk and sprinkle with some extra cheese
* Step 9
Let cool a little then split and spread with Violife cream cheese style spread and a slice of ham
