Walnut meringue pie

Ingredient

1 cup

sugar

1 teaspoon

vanilla

1 teaspoons

baking powder

2 cups

heavy cream

2 tablespoons

powdered sugar

2 tablespoons

rum (optional)

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Preheat oven at 325 F and butter a 10 inch pie pan

* Step 2

Beat egg whites until stiff, then gradually add sugar, baking powder, and vanilla

* Step 3

Fold in the walnuts and cracker pieces

* Step 4

Place in a pie pan

Bake for 25 minutes at 325 F

* Step 6

Turn the oven off and let the pie cool in the oven for 2 hours

* Step 7

Topping: beat the heavy cream until stiff, then add powdered sugar and rum (optional). Garnish with chocolate curls, if desired. May use a vegetable peeler to scrape chocolate curls from a chocolate bar
