Homemade Spicy Chili
YUM! For a vegetarian twist, just omit the meat and add more diced tomatoes, chopped carrots, and a can of black beans to make more filling! :)
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Season meat with garlic powder, season salt and black pepper.
* Step 2
In a crock pot, heat oil and sauté onions and garlic.
* Step 3
When onions are tender add meat and stir meat, crumbling until brown.
* Step 4
Add chili powder and continue to stir.
* Step 5
Add can of diced tomatoes with chilies and stir.
* Step 6
Add beans and continue to stir.
* Step 7
Add jalapeños and sweet peppers and vinegar.
* Step 8
Add cumin, parsley, Italian seasoning and oregano and continue to stir. Add bay leaves.
* Step 9
Add can of tomato paste and 2 cups of water and continue to stir.
* Step 10
Add brown sugar and stir.
* Step 11
Season with additional chili powder, parsley and garlic powder to taste.
* Step 12
Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
* Step 13
Add 2 more cups of water and stir until boiling again. Reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes.
* Step 14
Serve chili and top with cheese, diced celery or chives, sour cream, and sliced jalapeño.
* Step 15
Serve with a nice slice of Texas toast or tortilla chips and save some for tomorrow where it'll be twice as good!
