Daal Chana Fry

#cookpadindia #everydaycooking #chana A lovely dal fry recipe from my kitchen that is a regular feature at our home especially for Dinner. This dal fry is just mind-blowing and delicious. Easy to cook and goes well with Naans or Chapatis. Spicy and a little bit on the tangy side too due to Tomatoes. Serve this with Cabbage and Onion salad. It's best with any Indian Bread. And can be enjoyed at Breakfast or any of the main meals as well. At my maternal home, it's enjoyed at Breakfast mostly with Parathas and Chapatis too. It tastes awesome if made with Raw Mangoes. In Summers, it is the best Dal Fry recipe that my family relishes.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Soak dal for 2-3 hours and pressure cook using little water. Do not overcook it. It should be firm yet soft.

* Step 2

In a cooking pan, heat oil and saute onions until light pink in color. Now add cloves, blackpepper corns, and cumin seeds. Saute them all for a minute more. Add tomatoes and all the powdered spices as well. Saute until oil starts separating.

* Step 3

Also, add about 1 cup of water. Cover and cook for 15 minutes on medium-high heat. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil and add thinly sliced garlic cloves and fry until light brown. Add this tempering to the dal.

* Step 4

Garnish with chopped coriander and garam masala. Serve hot with naans for a scrumptious meal.
