This is delicious snack item like samosa and is served on special occasions and festivals.Chandrakala is normally sweet with a khowa or coconut filling and coated with sugar syrup.But this is a namkeen snack with a veg filling and enjoyed with a cup of tea or as it is.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Chop cauliflower into very small pieces.Cube the potatoes also into small pieces.Heat oil and fry peanuts and set aside.Then fry the cauliflower and potatoes separately in low flame till soft.Remove excess oil and keep 1 tsp oil.Sprinkle mixed whole spices.When they splutter,add the fried vegetables,chopped green chillies and peanuts.Add turmeric, red chilli powder,salt and pinch of sugar to taste.Sprinkle little water and toss till well mixed.Sprinkle garam masala.Set this filling aside.
* Step 2
Add pinch of salt,baking powder and pinch of baking soda to flour.Add 1 tbsp oil and mix all.Add water and knead to a tight dough.Make small balls out of it.Roll the balls and place 1 tsp filling in one rolled out puri.Cover with another rolled puri.Smear little water all over the edges and seal giving them a twist like braid.
* Step 3
Set aside for sometime.Heat oil in a wok and fry on low flame till crisp.Serve with sweet and sour tamarind chutney or hot and sweet tomato sauce.
