Doi shorshe ilish (Hilsa with yogurt mustard paste)

Typical recipe of Yeast Bengal it's a delicious combination of yogurt ,mustard paste and coconut paste in mustard oil and lends an authentic flavour to this superb delicacy and enjoyed with a plate of steaming rice .

Ingredient

Food ration :

serves 4 servin
6-8 pieces

ilish (hilsa)

1/2 tsp

turmeric

2 tbsp

sour curd

5-6 tbsp

mustard oil

To taste

salt

Pinch

sugar

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Marinate fish with little salt and curd for 10 minutes.Pour mustard oil in a deep bottomed wok and arrange the marinated fish alongwith the curd.Make a paste of black mustard seeds with 2 green chillies and little salt.Add half cup coconut paste, salt,pinch of sugar, turmeric,red chilli powder, and mustard oil.Pour over fish and add little water. Cook on low flame till done.

* Step 2

Sprinkle 1 tbsp mustard oil and garnish with green chillies.Serve with steaming rice.
