Joshua's Scalloped Potatoes

My youngest son, who never showed any interest in cooking until he moved out on his own made this for me and my wife while visiting one weekend. I think it is great. He also made incredible lamb chops as the main dish.

Ingredient

Food ration :

5 to 6 servings

Cooking time :

50 to 60 minute
2-3 pounds

potatoes

14-16 ounces

heavy cream

8 ounces

cheese

2 tablespoons

butter

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°.

* Step 2

Butter a medium sized casserole dish.

* Step 3

Thinly slice potatoes. (A mandolin works great set at 1/8 inch)

* Step 4

Place a layer of potatoes in bottom of casserole

* Step 5

Season potatoes with salt, pepper and optional Thyme if desired.

* Step 6

Sprinkle some of the cheese over potatoes

* Step 7

After two layers of potatoes, cheese and seasoning add a light coating of the heavy cream until barely covered.

* Step 8

Continue to layer potatoes, seasoning, cheese and cream until all the potatoes are in the dish and the top is covered with cheese.

* Step 9

Pour more heavy cream over the top layer of potatoes and cheese until barely covered in cream.

* Step 10

Bake uncovered at 400° for 50-60 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked through.
