Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Cube refrigerated butter, combine with flour until crumbly. Add 3 tablespoon of cold water (can be cold tap water) mix. Add the rest of the water to mixture.
* Step 2
Pat mixture into circle place in a glass container with a lid into the refrigerator for 1 to 5 hours.
* Step 3
Combine molasses, sugar and butter in a sauce pot for 2 minutes or until butter has melted. Add tablespoon of flour to thicken if desired. Take off the heat and continue stirring. Drop the apple slices into the mixture to coat. (You're making caramel) Add cinnamon and stir.
* Step 4
Sprinkle flour on the counter to roll out the pastry into 1/4 in thick. Place the pie bowl on top to trace the shape. Pat some flour onto hands to prevent sticking. Take the remaining pastry and make a ball. Set aside for the top of the pie.
* Step 5
Pour the apple mixture on top of bottom crust. Roll out the left over crust and make a design or just pop a few holes with fork.
* Step 6
Bake in oven at 425 F for 13 minutes.
* Step 7
Lower the temperature to 325 F for 35 minutes. After 20 minutes, crack the egg and whisk with a fork. Gently spread a little over the top. If you have a paint brush use that. Don't use the entire egg just enough to cover the pastry.
* Step 8
Allow the pie to set for 5 to 10 minutes
