Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Heat a pressure cooker with oil. Put whole spices.

Next add chopped onion. Saute till brownish. Next add fresh green peas, fresh green chillies and soaked and strained basmati rice.

Put salt, sugar, black pepper powder and curry powder. Mix. Saute for 3-4 minutes. Be cautious, do not break the rice grains. Then add hot water and squeeze juice of lemon.

Keep heat medium. As everything comes to a single boil, put the pressure lid and pressure cook at medium heat for 2 whistles.

* Step 5

Switch off and let the pressure cooker release pressure. Open the lid but don't disturb the rice for at least 10 minutes. After the rice settles, use a fork / spatula and fluff up the pulao. Your matar pulao is ready!!

Serve with raita. It's ready so quickly!!
