Ghooguni (Spicy White peas curry)
Ghooguni is a spicy curry made with dry white peas.
This is so delicious...try it any day...
You can serve it as an accompaniment or also as curry base for chaat...even it is required, if you are serving dahi bara aloo dum in your party.
So cannot miss trying out this recipe..

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Soak dry white peas in water overnight.
Next pressure cook the soaked peas and peeled potato with salt and turmeric powder in water for 2 whistles.
Keep aside.
Next heat a kadhai with oil.
Splutter cumin seeds.
Add chopped onion,saute.
Next add ginger garlic paste. Saute till the rawness is lost.
* Step 2
Next in a blender jar put tomato and fresh green chillies. Make a puree.
Add this puree into the sauteed onion. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and curry powder. Mix and cook till masala leaves oil. In order to prevent masala from burning, add water of the boiled peas instead of adding normal water.
* Step 3
As masala is cooked, add coriander powder and cumin powder and sugar. Mix.
Next add the boiled matar and potato. Mix gently. If required add water.
Next add chopped coriander leaves.
* Step 4
Mix and cook till required consistency.
It's ready...
Serve it as an accompaniment with poori/ paratha/ dahi bada/ chakuli / idli/ dosa
* Step 5
It is spicy and yummy..
You can put chopped raw onion, tomato, coriander leaves and sev over the ghugooni and serve as ghooguni chat...
