Beetroot Pachadi

Beetroot and yogurt gravy.An inevitable part of Kerala Onam Sadya

Ingredient

Yogurt

1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds

2 tbsps

Coconut oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Blend grated coconut and green chilly with little water to a paste.

* Step 2

Shred the beetroot and keep aside.

* Step 3

Heat some oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Now add grated beetroot and saute well.

* Step 4

Add some salt,keep stirring and cook for 5 min

* Step 5

Now add blended coconut paste into the beetroot mixture and mix well.

* Step 6

Reduce the heat and pour the yogurt.Mix well and keep away from heat.

* Step 7

Prepare the tempering with the curry leaves,mustard seeds and broken dry chillies in hot oil.

* Step 8

Pour this tempering onto the beetroot yogurt gravy and mix well on simmer.

* Step 9

Keep the pan away from heat and serve hot.
