Cooking instructions
* Step 1
First, prepare the filling. In a heavy based pan, add ghee. Slow roast the coconut for 5 minutes. Then add jaggery, raisins and cardamom powder. Stir cook for 5 minutes more till combined. Remove and cool before syrup separates. Filling is ready.
* Step 2
Now boil 2 cups water with salt and ghee. Then add the rice powder. Quickly mix with a wooden spoon to a sticky mixture. Cover it for 10 minutes.
* Step 3
Then transfer to a large plate and knead with ghee greased palms while it's still hot. Knead for 10 minutes till you have a soft and firm dough.
* Step 4
Now take out lemon sized portions of the dough. Flatten with palms.
* Step 5
Then fill with 1 tsp stuffing. The start making folds on the edges and bring them slowly together.
* Step 6
Close the top and press well so that filling is secured. Make all the modak similarly. Arrange on a plate lined with Banana leaf.
* Step 7
Steam them in a steamer for 10 minutes on medium heat.
* Step 8
Remove and pour 1 tsp ghee on top of each Modak. Offer to Bappa and enjoy 🙏🙏
