Honey Oatmeal Whole Wheat Slab Bread

This is another version of my Hot Roll recipe. This time I used whole wheat flour, because I need all the fiber I can get and I like the nutty flavor. I also love oatmeal so I added that too. Nice nibbling bread.

Ingredient

20 minutes
1 packet

yeast

2 1/2 half

cups warm water

1 tsp

salt

1/3 cup

sugar

1

egg

1/4 cup

honey

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Mix your yeast, a tsp of your sugar and 2 1/2 cups warm water and let it sit and foam for several minutes.

* Step 2

Mix all your dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a cup melt 4 tbsp of the butter. Mix the egg with it and whisk well.

* Step 3

When the yeast is ready, pour into flour mixture and pour the butter and egg mixture in and mix thoroughly.

* Step 4

Grease a 9x13 baking sheet with plenty of olive oil. I use my clean hands. Pour mixture onto sheet pan and spread with olive oil covered hands, to the edges. It’s very easy to work with. I poked my fingers all over it to make little wells for the butter and honey. Bake until firm about 20 minutes.

* Step 5

When it comes out, I mix the honey with the last 4 tbsp melted butter and baste the entire top then sprinkle it with the oats.
