Knafeh_dessert _cup

Kunafa is one of the hallmark desserts of the Middle East, with as many variations on its filling (think cheese, cream, nuts, pastry cream, chocolate, fruit, clotted cream). This syrup-soaked cheese pastry really comes into its own during Ramadan, when it is a frequent guest at the table during iftar, the meal which breaks the hours of fasting.🍴

Ingredient

Food ration :

Makes 10 cups
5 tablespoons

corn flour

1 tablespoon

rose water

to taste

Sugar

1 cup

sugar

1/2 cup

water

1 teaspoon

lemon juice

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a saucepan, add the thickened cream, milk, corn flour, sugar, orange blossom and rose water together.

* Step 2

How to assemble: Line up 10 cups. Pour the knafeh into each cup.Using a hand whisk, whisk together.

* Step 3

Bring saucepan over the stove. Continue to stir, until the knafeh thickens.

* Step 4

Once it has thickened remove from heat.

* Step 5

How to assemble: Line up 10 cups. Pour the knafeh into each cup.

* Step 6

Sprinkle the crushed corn flakes crumbs on top Garnish with pistachios

* Step 7

Preparation of syrup: In a saucepan add sugar and water.

* Step 8

Allow to boil. Once boiling point has been achieved, add the lemon juice and reduce the heat for 10mins until syrup has thickened.

* Step 9

Remove from heat and add the orange blossom water. Food colour is optional.
