Ukadiche Modak

Ukadiche Modak

#modak These modak's are made with rice flour and stuffed with coconut, jaggery filling. It is a traditional Recipe of Maharashtra .

Ingredient

1 cup

water

as needed

ghee

1/2 tsp

salt

as needed

oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

For Ukad (outer covering)...Boil water in a vessel add salt and 1 tsp oil.

Add rice flour in the water and mix,off the flame. Cover it for 10 - 15 minutes.

* Step 3

In another pan heat 1 tsp ghee, grated coconut and jaggery powder.Cook till it the mixture is dry. Remove in a bowl and let it cool.

Now remove the rice flour mix on a plate (it should be still warm and not cool).Make a smooth dough,add little water if needed and apply oil on hands so that the dough doesn't stick.

Make balls from the dough,and shape them with hands in to a thin small roti or katori,appling oil or water while shaping.

Fill it with coconut stuffing and give shape as Modak.

Make all Modak,s in the same way. Keep the modak's in the steamer, cover and cook for 10- 15 minutes. When u touch Modak should not be sticky that means it's ready.
