Butter Bean Spreads
I often use sweetened butter bean paste for making Japanese sweets, but my husband is not a big fan of sweetened beans. He doesn’t eat even ‘Azuki’ Red Bean paste which is an essential ingredient for Asian sweets.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Rinse Butter Beans and drain very well. Place Butter Beans, softened Butter and Sugar into a food processor and make them into smooth paste. To make the mixture softer, add small amount of Cream or Milk and process to combine.
* Step 2
By adding extra ingredients to ‘Plain Butter Bean Spread’, you can create a variety of flavours.
* Step 3

100g Plain Butter Bean Spread
2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
1-2 tablespoon Cream/Milk
1-2 teaspoons Rum, Cointreau, etc. *optional
* Step 4
<Chocolate & Coffee>
100g Plain Butter Bean Spread
2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
1-2 tablespoon Cream/Milk
1 teaspoon Instant Coffee Powder
1-2 teaspoons Rum, Brandy, Kahlúa *optional

<Chestnut>
100g Plain Butter Bean Spread
2-3 tablespoons Sweetened Chestnut Paste
* Step 6
<Lemon Curd>
100g Plain Butter Bean Spread
2-3 tablespoons Lemon Curd
* Step 7
<Condensed Milk>
100g Plain Butter Bean Spread
2-3 tablespoons Condensed Milk
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
* Step 8
<Matcha>

1-2 teaspoons Matcha Powder
1 tablespoons Condensed Milk
