Ekmek with stale tsoureki
This is an improvised ekmek (a kind of bread pudding with custard) that makes use of the leftover tsoureki that you might have after Easter.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
If you have any leftover tsoureki, cut it into slices and place it under the grill for a little while, to get it light golden brown.
* Step 2
For about 10 slices, boil 2 1/2 cups sugar with 2 cups water for 10 minutes. If you like, you can replace half a cup of water with orange juice.
* Step 3
Pour the hot syrup over the tsoureki slices. Allow it to cool and serve with dondurma ice cream.
