My Favourite Strawberry-Pretzel Salad
This very simple recipe was given to me by my sister, who used to make this every year around the Fourth of July. She’s moved on to more “exquisite” treats for the holidays, but this dessert will forever remain one of my favourites. It’s very easy, and very yummy. Hope you enjoy!

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a sturdy ziploc bag, crush pretzels. (I used a gallon freezer bag and a rolling pin.)
* Step 2
In a medium sauce pan, melt butter. Add 1/2 cup sugar to melted butter and stir in crushed pretzels. Mix until throughout combine.
* Step 3
Remove pretzel mixture from heat and transfer to glass, 13x9 casserole dish, making sure to spread evenly along the bottom to create a thin crust (if your crust appears to not be covering the bottom enough, it’s okay! If you wish to have a thicker crust, feel free to double the crust recipe, but make sure to leave filling recipe as is.)
* Step 4
Place casserole dish in preheated oven, and bake for 10 minutes. When done baking, set dish aside to let cool to room temperature.
* Step 5
Combine jello mix with boiling water, mixing until jello has dissolved. Set aside to let rest at room temperature.
* Step 6
Thinly slice strawberries and add them to the liquid jello mixture. (I rarely use a whole pound of strawberries. It depends on how much you enjoy fruit, and how big your strawberries are. I usually only use about 5-6 strawberries.)
* Step 7
In a medium mixing bowl, mix together cream cheese and remaining 1/2 cup sugar until thoroughly combined. Using a spatula, gently fold in cool whip, stirring until cream cheese is invisible in the mixture.
* Step 8
When pretzels are cooler, add cool whip mixture on top and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
* Step 9
After your dessert is done in the refrigerator, pour the jello mixture on top of the cool whip mixture and return to the fridge for another 2-4 hours (until the jello is set).
