Sukiyaki Beef (牛肉すき焼き)
The rainy season has just begun and so now I've begun making hot pots. Most of the time the description has one cooking them on a portable stove but here I just keep it simple. You can put in a lot of other ingredients in addition the mushrooms that I've used, e.g. napa cabbage, carrots, tofu, shirataki noodles, konnyaku cakes, negi, etc. I only had the mushrooms left over from the last hot pot. 🇯🇵🫕🐮🥩🍄

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Mix soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Microwave on high for one minute and stir until sugar is dissolved.
* Step 2
Mix water and dashi powder to make dashi broth.
* Step 3
In a medium pot, heat vegetable oil until hot but not smoking. Add beef, and fry until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
* Step 4
Add sukiyaki sauce and bring to a boil, stirring for one minute.
* Step 5
Add dashi broth and stir for another minute and reduce heat to medium low.
* Step 6
Add mushrooms and other sukiyaki ingredients. Let simmer for five to ten minutes.
