Perfect Red Rice

Classic red rice my family makes to accompany many of our traditional hispanic meals; such as: mole, enchiladas, caldo de pollo/ or albondigas, etc. Great side dish, super easy and quick to make. Surprisingly not many people en know how to make it. So i decided to add to my recipes. To add a little texture and diversity we sometimes add canned corn and/or 1 can tomato and 1 can pato tomato salsa. Yummy!!

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Place a pan on High medium heat. Add the oil. Let it head up for 1 min. Add the garlic cloves.

* Step 2

Once garlic begins to brown (after 1-2min), add rice. Stir around until rice begins to tan. (About 3 min).

* Step 3

Add 2 cans of tomato sauce. Fill cans with water ( for a total of 4 cans of water). Stir.

* Step 4

Add 2 spoonfulls of chicken bullion powder (about 1/4cup). Stir. Taste and add more bullion (to taste). cover lid. Turn heat down to medium low. Let sit for 20 min. (Once its ready you should be able to poke a fork staight down to bottom and come up clean.

* Step 5

For some texture : add 1 can canned corn when you add the water. And other veggies like green onions go great here too.

For some heat: use 1 can regular tomato sauce, 1 can salsa de pato.
