Orange Poppyseed Cake

Orange Poppyseed Cake

poppyseeds

brown sugar

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Gather ingredients. Preheat oven to 175C, grease a medium Bundt or loaf pan and set aside

Whisk together the orange juice, zest, yogurt and vanilla. Set aside for later

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and poppy seeds. Set aside

In a bigger bowl, cream the butter and sugar until mixed but crumbly. Whisk in vegetable oil until pale and volume increases

Mix in the eggs, one at a time until fully incorporated. After adding all eggs, scrap the sides and mix again

Add half of the flour mixture to the creamy mixture bowl and mix on low speed just until almost fully combined (you will know you haven’t overmixed if you are still able to see some hints of flour). Alternate by pouring half of the yoghurt mixture, mix to combine and add the remaining half of the flour (reserve a tablespoon of it). Finish off with the yoghurt mixture in first and mix in the reserved flour with a spatula by simply folding in

Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25 - 30 minutes or until cooked through. Cool in the pan for 5minutes then continue to cool on a rack

Make the glaze by whisking together the orange juice and powdered sugar. Mixture should look syrupy

Pour glaze over cooled cake on a plate and let it soak in for 20 minutes before serving
