Steamed White rice 🍚

This rice recipe can easy be doubled, tripled or more. The key is to keep a 1:2 rice and water ratio for the perfect cook. Your rice will be fluffy and beautifully cooked through.

Ingredient

Food ration :

2 servings
1 cup

rice

2 cups

water

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Bring water to a boil, mixed with vegetable oil and salt

* Step 2

Rinse the rice in a mesh sieve under running water to remove excess starch responsible for making rice sticky and gummy (pudding-like). Drain all excess water

* Step 3

Pour rinsed rice into the boiling water and immediately give it a gentle stir. Now withstand the urge to stir

* Step 4

After the first 5 minutes, reduce heat to medium and give the rice a gentle lift with a wooden spoon to prevent having most of the rice stick to the bottom

* Step 5

Keep a close eye and once the water is slightly reduced to the level of the rice, reduce heat to low, cover pot (you can also cover the rice with a plastic bag before the lid). Allow the rice to completely dry and cook through with steam

* Step 6

Fluffy up your cooked rice with a fork. Serve and enjoy!
