Cape Gooseberry Chutney

#Mar #Week2 #cookpadindia An amazing Chutney with the Cape Gooseberries. Goes well with umpteen number of dishes including Chaats, Pakoras, Samosas, Rolls, Wraps and Kachoris. It's a beautiful spread also and can be used on Breads and Sandwiches for Breakfast, Brunch or even for Snacking. It's done very quickly too. If desired it can be blended to a nice golden brown paste. But I prefer it this way. And not to forget, this can be relished with simple boiled Rice and even Rotis, Phulkas and Parathas too. It tastes super yummy with a steaming bowl of plain boiled Rice and some pure homemade Ghee or Clarified Butter.

Ingredient

20 minutes

Ghee

1/2 tsp

Oil

1/2 tsp

Salt

1 sprig

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Heat ghee on a low heat with half a teaspoon of any cooking oil. To this add both the black and yellow mustard seeds. Next is to add garlic and fresh red chillies. Fry for a minute.

To this add the cape gooseberry halves. Mix well. Adjust Salt and simmer for about 7-8 minutes. Cover and cook until soft and done. Adjust salt and take it off the heat.

When cooled, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoy with any snack for that matter. It tastes yum. Teekhi meethi chutney is lovely to look at as well as tastes awesome. Try it out the next time you want to host a snack party or on family picnics and get togethers. It is just right for any occasion. Enjoy!
