Hyderabadi Saijan Ki Phalli Masala or Drumsticks Curry

#boxweek19 #cookpadindia #drumstick A simple side dish with Tomatoes and Onions. Called as saijan ki phali in urdu, it is most popular in India and Pakistan. It is also very healthy. Goes well with Moong Dal Khichdi or even plain boiled Rice. Kasuri methi added to it renders this curry an amazing flavour. It is my way of making it. You can very well skip it if desired. This can also be made with Lamb or Beef for a yummy Non-Veg variation.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a cooking pot, heat oil and add asafoetida. After a few seconds, add the chopped onions.

* Step 2

Saute them until light golden brown. Add the chopped tomatoes along with all the spices except garam masala.

* Step 3

Cover and cook until the tomatoes are done for about 5 minutes. Now add the drumstick pieces and allow them to cook with some water added.

* Step 4

Cover and cook for about 12 to 15 minutes. Also add kasuri methi. Cook until the oil starts separating and the masala coats the drumsticks well. Enjoy! Serve hot alongside plain boiled Rice and even Rotis or Parathas. Yum!
