Moong Dal Khichdi

No food is complete without cumin seeds. Here, I have used it In Moong Dal Khichdi which is a healthy and comfort food made with a combination of rice and moong dal with tempering of cumin seeds. It has all spices and flavours in it and is served as it is without any sides, but tastes great when served with pickle or yoghurt.

Ingredient

Food ration :

1 serving

Cooking time :

15 minutes
1/4 bowl

ghee

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash dal and rice in running water 2-3 times and keep aside for 15 minutes. Wash, peel and chop tomato, ginger and carrot.

Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put finely chopped ginger and saute for 1 minute. Add tomato and saute for 2-3 minutes.

Add chopped carrots and saute for 1 minute. Now add dal and fry for 2 minutes. Mix salt and all dry masale.

* Step 4

Now add rice and mix thoroughly. Saute for 2-3 minutes. Add water and place the lid and cook for 3 minutes after first whistle.

Let pressure releases automatically. Then open the lid.

Serve hot with pickle and Raita.
