Turnip and Potato Curry with Green Peas

It is a semi dry sabzi with turnips( shalgam),potato,green peas,spices and tomato which is made in everyday meals generally during winter which is the season of turnips.Turnip is low in calories and perfect to include in a healthy meal plan.Here it is a no onion no garlic recipe and is less spicy.Pair this delicious curry with simple dal and rice or roti and enjoy a healthy meal in lunch or dinner.

Ingredient

green peas

1/2 tsp

turmeric

1/2 tsp

Sabzi Masala

1/2 tsp

cumin powder

1/4 tsp

cumin seeds

1 pinch

hing

2 tbsp

mustard oil

as per taste

salt

1/2 tsp

sugar

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Boil cubed Turnip and Potato upto 2 whistles.Release pressure after 2 minutes.Heat oil in a pan and fry the turnip and potato lightly. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.In the same oil, add cumin seeds.When they splutter, add hing and chopped tomato.Saute till tomato is soft.

Add ginger paste, tomato puree,turmeric,red chilli powder,sabzi masala, roasted cumin and coriander powder.Add salt and sugar to taste.Add green peas and fry the masala in low to medium flame.Add the turnip (shalgam) and potato and fry with the masala.

Add the vegetable stock and 1/4 th cup water or as needed.Boil till the gravy is semi dry.

Sprinkle garam masala and toss to mix well.Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot as a side with dal and rice or with roti or paratha.
