Rohu Fish Curry or Rui Macher Jhol with Cauliflower and Potato

This is a traditional Bengali light fish curry cooked with rohu fish,belonging to Asian Carp family.Other fish like katla or bhetki fish may also be cooked in this way.Serve this delicious fish curry in lunch with a plate of steaming hot rice.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Wash and smear 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 th tsp turmeric to rohu or katla fish,both belonging to Asian Carp family.Marinate for 10 minutes. Cut cauliflower florets into medium size pieces.Peel and slice potato.Parboil both in a pressure cooker upto 1 whistle.Open lid after 2 minutes, strain water and smear salt and turmeric. Heat oil in a pan or wok.Sprinkle little salt and fry the fish till golden brown.Stir fry cauliflower and potato.
* Step 2
In the remaining oil, sprinkle cumin seeds and half crushed cardamom and cinnamon. When they crackle, add ginger paste,tomato puree,black pepper, cumin and coriander powder.Also add turmeric, red chilli powder,1 bay leaf, salt and sugar to taste.Fry till oil leaves sides.Add fried fish,cauliflower, potato,green peas.Toss in masala till well coated.Add the vegetable stock and 1.5 cups water and boil for 5 minutes till cauliflower and potato is cooked but not mushy.
* Step 3
Sprinkle garam masala and mix.Garnish with slit green chillies and chopped coriander. Serve hot with rice in lunch or dinner.
