Rava or Semolina Dhokla in Microwave

#rainbowweek3 #white #goldenapron3 #week9 #steam Rava or Semolina Dhokla are steamed soft and spongy cakes. These are made in a steamer, pressure cooker or microwave. Normally curd is added to semolina but here it is made with buttermilk and lemon juice and the taste is no different from curd based dhokla. This is a healthy snack and can be relished in breakfast,mid-day cravings or evening snack. It goes best with sweet tamarind chutney or a dip of mint and coriander.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Take 1 cup rava/semolina in a bowl. Add 2 tsp oil, baking powder, salt and sugar to taste. Add ginger paste. Mix all and gradually add water and blend to a smooth thick paste. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.

* Step 2

Grease a microwave safe glass container. Add 1 tsp Eno fruit salt and mix well till light and fluffy. Pour the thick batter in the container and microwave high power for 2 minutes. Insert a knife and if it comes out clean, it is done. Cut into pieces. Heat 1 tsp oil in a tadka pan. Sprinkle mustard seeds and asafoetida. Add few curry leaves and split green chillies. Also add 1 tsp sesame seeds. Pour this tadka over the dhokla. Heat 1/4 th cup water with 1 tsp sugar and pour this over dhokla.

Garnish with chopped coriander and grated coconut.Serve with tangy sweet and sour tamarind chutney.
